As many of you know, VRC is very involved in many prison dog programs across the country. What this means is that we take some of our dogs to various prisons where the inmates (who have already received training themselves) help us to help our dogs by giving them 24/7 attention AND the dogs also received extensive training, some even earning various levels of certification. One of our prison dogs went on to become the nation's FIRST EVER water leak detection dog (she works for a big water company and goes out and 'sniffs' the ground and finds leaks in the main water lines).

Currently, we have prison dog partners in Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Florida, and up and coming in Texas. But our hope is to work with as many as possible in the future and we want to 'pay it forward' not only for our dogs but for the inmates who are bettering their lives as well.

When you purchase this SOFTCOVER BOOK, not only will you receive a signed copy but I will also send one of the inmate/dog handlers a signed copy as well. I will send a card to the inmate letting she/he know that the book was purchased by 'someone who cares' (that would be you) but due to privacy issues, we will not reveal who the book came from. Both of you will also receive a signed postcard/bookmark.
So the $35 price is for SIGNED BOOKS ONLY. If you want a PERSONALIZED/SIGNED BOOK (as in signed to you personally/or anyone) then you have to purchase the hardcover book.
The monies raised from the sale of this book will go specifically to our prison dog program funding. Whether it's supplying dog food to one of the prisons (yeah...most of the programs have to raise their own money and are not funded by the Dept. of Corrections) or to pay for gas to take dogs to a specific facility, we could sure use the help getting these dogs off to a new start and eventually to their new forever home.
